The Scheme
Certification criteria for Reprocessors of Previously certified packaging auditors have been developed by SAATCA in order to certificate auditors conducting independent internal or external audits, indicating that they have the skills required to effectively perform .
In response to the requirements of SANS 10229 - Packaging of Dangerous Goods for Road and Rail Transportation in South Africa, an audit protocol is being progressed by the Responsible Container Management Association of South Africa (RCMASA) to support these requirements, satisfy other government department and industry needs, and prevent multiple audits. Auditor criteria and a Code of Conduct have been prepared by the Southern African Auditor and Training Certification Association (SAATCA) to provide a common basis for the certification of auditors who are involved with auditing reprocessors of previously certified packaging.
The criteria for the scheme has been aligned with the requirements of:
ISO 19011:the International Auditor and Training Certification Association (IPC),
RCMASA 006: Assessment and Audit Protocol for reprocessors of previously certified packaging in Southern Africa,
SANS 10406: Transport of dangerous goods - the reprocessing of previously certified packaging,
SANS 10228: The identification and classification of dangerous goods for transport,
SANS 10229: Packaging of dangerous goods for road and rail transportation in South Africa,
SANS 10233: Intermediate bulk containers for dangerous substances,
SANS 10232 Part 1: Transport of dangerous goods – Emergency information systems – Part 1: Emergency information systems for road transportation),
Objectives
This program has been developed to meet the following objectives:
- To raise the level of professional recognition for Packaging auditors
- To add value to Packaging audits by ensuring auditor competence
- To provide international recognition of auditors certified in Southern Africa
- To assist organisations in selecting appropriately qualified auditors
- To provide credible and accountable Packagingauditor certification program
