About SANS 16001
SANS 16001 is the South African National Standard for HIV & AIDS workplace programmes. It specifies the requirements for establishing an HIV & AIDS policy, determining the HIV & AIDS related risks and impacts on productivity and performance, planning HIV & AIDS related objectives and measurable targets with outcome and impact indicators, implementation and operation of programmes to meet objectives and targets, corrective & preventive action, and management review.
An organisation needs to declare its overall key priority aims and objectives. Each of these key priority areas will in turn contain several programmes, each with its own objectives and targets. The APIME continuous improvement cycle will be contained within each programme (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation). The HAMS establishes procedures, work instructions, specific roles and responsibilities and controls to ensure that implementation of the policy and achievement of the objective and targets can become a reality. Communication is a vital factor, enabling people in the organization to be aware of the policy and procedures, their roles and responsibilities and the requirements of the scheme, the policy and legislation, in order to contribute to its success. |
